One year ago, Ferrari FXX K #75 changed my life and showed me what it really means to go fast around a racetrack. So far, I have been fortunate enough to have driven several high-performance cars including the McLaren 12C and 650S, Lotus Exige S, and Audi R8 V10. I’ve been taken on fast road and track runs in everything from those McLarens to the Lamborghini Murcielago SV, Aventador LP700-4, and Porsche 991.1 911 GT3 RS, among others. And I can definitely say that, as you’d expect, the FXX K is on an entirely different level to all of those admittedly impressive machines. Nothing else comes close. Along with its devastatingly extraordinary acceleration, the FXX K’s braking and lateral G forces are far beyond anything else I’ve ever experienced. As with all high-downforce cars, the faster you go, the smoother the FXX K becomes through turns and technical sections.
This was evident in one of my favourite sections here: hard braking from 290+km/h on Sepang’s main straight before carving precisely through turns 1 and 2, then punching away downhill with maximum power for turn 3. Even as the hybrid V12 engine screams it’s electrifying ode to extreme naturally aspirated engines, you feel the FXX K suck itself harder to the track as it slices through the apex and charges up to the braking zone for turn 4 with seemingly no let-up in its rabid, urgent energy.
Pointless just because it’s not road-legal and not currently allowed to race properly in any GT series, as some have claimed? Hardly; the whole point of the FXX K is maximum Ferrari, maximum hypercar, maximum adrenaline, maximum emotion and energy, with no constraints or limits. It’s the kind of extreme machine that plays with physics and makes you feel like a superhero as it does so; a masterpiece in every sense of the word. On top of that, successful technologies tested on the XX Programme cars will benefit future road Ferraris. Simply put, the FXX K is one of the most demanding yet rewarding automotive experiences ever created by man. A big word of thanks to @davidtjipto once again for this extraordinary, life-changing experience.
