Running a 10k (6.2 miles) right after work (before dinner) means doing a lot of “fueling up” during the day, since I won’t be eating dinner until about 9pm (and I wake up around 6:30am). There’s no better place for hearty #vegan food in Manhattan’s financial district than Terri NYC. Pictured: the best lasagna I’ve ever had - and that includes when I was eat dairy- and chickpea “tuna” melt. Each around 33 grams of plant-based protein, filling, and #delicious .
MONDAY RUN DONE! I almost slept in this morning 😴 ... I thought about it real hard... especially when I woke up at 5:45am BEFORE my 6:05 alarm. But I decided I didn’t want to risk the impending rain ☔️ for this afternoon so I got my booty up to kick off week3 of my #10ktraining .
Obviously it didn’t disappoint! I wish I could have been a little faster but I NEEDED slow recovery jogs after 2 minute sprints! HARD STUFF. But what doesn’t kill you, only makes you strong 💪🏼.
Looking forward to Wednesday’s tempo run! #aaptiv#october10ktraining#aaptiv10ktraining#fitbabesunited
I haven’t run since last Monday frustratingly, life and work getting in the way of things. I felt pretty guilty about it, which is weird for me. Perhaps running a bite more regularly is starting to become a pattern in my mind at least. It felt good to finally get out today. I like running in the drizzle, it’s refreshing, although it’s quite slippery and I’m pretty clumsy so I have to be a bit careful! Hope you all had a fun weekend.
An insight into a not too serious/serious enough amateur runner, fat battling (currently winning), father of 2, husband of 1, relapsing obsessive bloke who in his late 30's has finally found the formula to a happy state of mind regarding body image and fitness. Only took me 20 years!! This is definitely in no way scientifically or factually proven other than the fact it's worked for me. This is my honest take on being in shape, fit, healthy(ish) while still eating and drinking shite! Hope you enjoy !
ANOTHER ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT 📢
Janine has been working with Coach Christine since February 2018 to train for her first full marathon in CHICAGO this October!! She has come SO far both physically and mentally over the last 7 months and we could not be more proud of her for finishing her peak week last week! When she started with us she was nervous for her first 14 mile long run because she had never run over the half marathon distance. Her long run this weekend during her taper is 14 miles and she said she’s not nervous and she knows she’s got this! Isn’t is amazing how your mindset changes?! During training each week was a long run PR and she found her confidence and strength and overcame her self doubts 💪 Not only has she dominated her marathon training, she is a proud first time mama to her beautiful baby girl, Bella, who just turned one! If you are a mommy then you know the first year can be challenging to say the least so I think it’s safe to say that Janine is a SUPER MOM!! Way to go woman! We are so proud of you and CANNOT wait to see you do amazing things in Chicago next month ❤️ @jricciardi821#teamrelentlessrunners
Running down Ocean Avenue and reminiscing on my LA Marathon days (2011-2014) this past Sunday at the #santamonicaclassic 10K was pretty cool! 🏃🏻♀️ I had a few easy days this week to allow for recovery after the race but training continues because I have one 10K left at the end of this month. Today’s #speedtraining consisted of 8 x 600M intervals. I ran the first three intervals at a pace of 6:45, the next three at a pace of 6:35 and the 7th and 8th at a pace of 6:22 and 6:18. The intervals felt short and I actually didn’t mind the workout so much. 🙄 The goal for my next race is to run strong. The course will be hilly and it will be challenging to run a faster race but we shall see. #dodgers10k 📸 credit: @anstar_runs
