Feeling this to be true this morning...
Although last week was peak week, the last three days have probably held some of my toughest miles (coming off peak and trying to transition my body into recovery). I put in a hell of a long run on Sunday and boy did I feel it yesterday. Yesterday’s miles were elephant-like and today...
Well, today took everything in me: the 4am wake up, the tired legs and achy muscles, the 25 degree, dark morning that awaited me, the miles that loomed...I wanted zero to do with any of it.
I’ve come to realize all we can do is show up one day at a time and give it everything we’ve got. Some days are prettier than others. Some days we simply get the miles done and move on. Today, my tank is empty, but tomorrow is rest day...and I couldn’t be more grateful for what my body has allowed these last ten weeks. 🙏🏻
Peak week is done?! Holy shit!! 😜
Topped off the week with my last long run — 18 miles. My goal pace was right around 8:00 min miles, but if I was feeling good, my hope was to simulate the race. Today’s long run was perfection.
Mile 1 WU — 8:18
Miles 2-9 — 7:58
Miles 9-16 — 7:45
Miles 16-18 — 7:22
65 miles for the week!! I’m feeling really good and ready to tackle the next couple weeks of fine-tuning and then it’s all about the taper!! 💃 #marathontraining#road2cim

I’m smiling and the sun is shining, but does it really need to be this cold?! I’ll be real...no sappy, “you guys!! The first snowy run of the year was absolutely beautiful!!” Nope! The roads were pure ice and I really didn’t enjoy any of those 10 miles. I felt like I was expending a bit more energy than I would like going into my long run tomorrow (just trying to find the best part of the pavement to get a touch of traction on), but whatevs Michigan, whatevs!!! #andimdonecomplainingnow

I’m not much for winter, but there’s something about the first snowfall...
It quiets my little corner of the world with such grace and beauty. ——
6 easy miles followed by a walk to the coffee shop at the end of the road. Miles, lattes and snowflakes to start my Friday. 💕

It’s peak week. Let’s do this!

CIM is officially one month from today. The miles are still stacking, the aches and pains are starting to set in and the early mornings are starting to take their toll. There are days I long for the race to just be here, but most days I feel beyond lucky to be able to do the thing I love. One more month to work on my fitness! One more month to focus in on my goals! One more month to dig a little deeper! 🙌🏻

229.8 October miles 🍂
When I started training in early September, I honestly didn’t think my body would hold up. Rather than roll the dice, I made a conscious decision to change things up. I shortened my training cycle, I cut a few miles out, I started working with a personal trainer to work on strength (best decision I’ve ever made!!) and I ultimately decided to get a cortisone injection in my hip to ease some labrum pain...
Here I am, still running, still training, still chasing pavement...
I’ve still got a ways to go. There’s no guarantees, but damn does it feel good to be making progress. ———

She shares my pb toast with me in the morning, watches for me out the window until I get back and then gets her walk in once her human’s put in all her miles. She’s basically my ride or die. 🐶
10.65 miles ✅
1.5 miles x 4 (7:10ish pace)
Okie now I’m officially tired and ready for that day off tomorrow. 🙃

Today took a little bit of grit, especially for that best friend of mine standing next to me...
The hard runs can be downright excruciating and watching the ones I love power through is beyond inspiring!! Nice work, Steph!!
16 wet, cold miles in the books!
That was one of those runs where all I can say is, “see, ya bye!!” On to week 8!! 👏🏻
