Patience = Consistency
These are my first sets of pain free swings in about 6 weeks. I took it really easy and used some "contrast" training to increase my volume. For those of you who are not exercise nerds "contrast" or "post activation potentiation" training just means that I combined a fast exercise with a slower "heavy" exercise.
So the workout was 4 x 10
Swings and Deadlift 10 each
Club twirly thingies 10 each direction
Then my training partner got some swings of her own in 😍
Balance is a key to any gymnastics discipline, whether you’re tumbling on the floor, swinging on the parallel bars or landing at the end of a vault. For young gymnast, therefore, learning to maintain your balance in a variety of positions is one of the first skills you must develop.
Balance is a combination of innate sense and the development of combined physical and mental training.
Balance is fundamental to gymnastic success, no matter how otherwise skilled and fit the athlete may be.

[If your Lower Back hurts - Hip Mobility Routine]
✅ One significant action in lower back injury prevention and physical performance is the regular maintenance of the adjacent joint complexes. It’s not just a random combination of exercises from our book shown in this clip. It’s a hip mobility routine in preparation for a functional strength training.
In every bipedal movement the hip or rather the LPHC (lumbo-pelvic-hip-complex) absorbs forces coming from the feet and directs them straight up your spine. Hence, it’s highly important to keep the hips as stabile and mobile as possible, because they are the last line of defence in spine protection.
☝🏼Constant work on your soft tissue flexibility and joint mobility/ROM (range of motion) is necessary to keep a joint healthy and functioning.
The evidence shows clearly that the sprinter sprints faster, the squatter squats better, and the lower back hurts less by constantly improving hip mobility.
For those of you who’ve been working with the ‘Mobility Guide Basic’, you can find all drill from this video in Zone IV + V.
Do you think you can manage 15 minutes a day to get ahead of limitations?

I often get asked how I get my students to listen and behave in my classes. Especially when my class sizes are 50+ high school students. My response is always the same. I treat my kids as people, not numbers. My students understand that I genuinely care for them and want them to be the best person they can be. High test scores are great but higher self-confidence and a sense of belonging are more important. I truly believe, “Students don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” #teaching#physicaleducation#adventureeducation#bodymindspirit#chicago#CPS#health#fitness#community
